In July, Lawrence revealed in an interview with Ebony magazine that there is at least one more film for the franchise. There had been speculations surrounding the fate of the movie due to the controversial slapping that happened at the 2022 Oscars involving Smith.

We got one more at least. For us to come together and prove that we can deliver, and we can pull people into the box office — that two Black stars, two sitcom stars, could make money at the box office [was huge].”

Bad Boys grossed over $141 million worldwide, while Bad Boys II earned $273 million. Bad Boys for Life garnered $426.5 million overall. The previous film reunited Smith and Lawrence 25 years after their first collaboration.

The fourth installment will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Smith for Westbrook, Doug Belgrad, and Chad Oman. Meanwhile, Lawrence, James Lassiter, Mike Stenson, Barry Waldman, and Jon Mone will serve as executive producers.
