Cillian Murphy on Returning As Thomas Shelby
Following a criminal gang in Birmingham post World War 1, Peaky Blinders stars Cillian Murphy as the lead. The show ran for a total of six seasons and concluded in 2022. It has been considered one of the best TV shows of all time, and there have been reports that Steven Knight has been working on a Peaky Blinders movie.
The In Time actor recently talked about the potential movie during an interview with Rolling Stone. He shared that he could return as Thomas Shelby in the movie only “if there’s more story there.” The actor said that he would love to play the complex character, but the next project has to be right.
“I’d love to do it, but it has to be right,” he said during his interview. While Murphy seems skeptical about the movie, the Peaky Blinders creator has reportedly said that the script for the film is almost done, and they are planning to start filming soon as well.
He also stated that he has been planning to film the series in Digbeth, Birmingham. As fans are eagerly waiting for Thomas Shelby to make his way toward the big screen, Steven Knight has shared that the filming for Peaky Blinders movie could start in 2023, and the film could release in 2024.
Will Tom Hardy Reprise His Peaky Blinders Character?
Tom Hardy joined the British crime drama as Alfie Solomons, the leader of a Jewish gang based in Camden Town, in the second season of Peaky Blinders. The character was soon able to catch everyone’s eye and became a fan favorite. Alfie Solomons made a surprising return in the fifth season of the show after he was presumed dead in the season 4 finale.
And his brief appearance in the sixth and final season of the show also became his final appearance. The creator has shared that he did not plan to continue with the character after he died in season 4. However, he changed his mind considering the fans’ and the actor’s love for Alfie Solomons.
While there is no official confirmation, fans are expecting to see Alfie Solomons’ return in the Peaky Blinders movie alongside the Anthropoid star. The character is expected to return in the movie as he enters the crime world alongside Murphy’s Thomas Shelby.
