Samantha Davis, wife of Harry Potter star Warwick Davis, passed away on March 24, 2024, at the age of 53. In a statement released to BBC, the actor paid a heartfelt tribute to his wife of 33 years. He shared that she was a unique character with a wicked sense of humor and added that her passing has left a huge hole in the lives of him and his children.
Davis met his wife on the sets of the 1988 film Willow, where the actor played the titular role of Willow Ufgood. Samantha Davis and her father had minor roles as villagers in the film. They got married in 1991 and had three children, one of whom tragically died nine days after he was born.

Warwick Davis shared in a statement to BBC that his wife Samantha Davis passed away a month ago at 53. Samantha’s mobility was affected in recent years but the actor revealed that his wife was determined not to let that impact her quality of life. She also leaves behind her two children, Harrison and Annabelle.
Warwick Davis described his wife as his “most trusted confidant and an ardent supporter of everything I did in my career.” He further added that she kept on encouraging him to achieve great heights, calling her the “superpower” he had. He also noted his wife’s unique character and her ability to make him lighten up with jokes. Davis shared in the statement given to BBC:
“She was a unique character, always seeing the sunny side of life she had a wicked sense of humour and always laughed at my bad jokes.”
While Davis played both Professor Flitwick and the goblin Griphook in the Harry Potter films, his wife was also part of the films, playing the role of a goblin in the final film. The actor shared that all the great things, including the Tenable quiz show, the Willow series, and Idiot Abroad Series 3, wouldn’t have happened “without Sammy”.
Samantha Davis was also part of the children’s series Through the Dragon’s Eye. Besides her acting gigs, Samantha and her husband founded Little People U.K., a charity to help people with dwarfism. About her charity work, the Star Wars actor shared:
“She was passionate about helping people, without judgment. She had time for everyone and a genuine listening ear.”
Samantha had a previous brush with death in 2019 when she fell ill with sepsis ahead of a family holiday (via Daily Mail). The actress spent her last days at their home near Peterborough.

Samantha Davis and her husband have two children. Annabelle, 27, is an actress who portrayed the role of Lacey Lloyd in Hollyoaks. Harrison, 21, has also pursued acting and appeared as a goblin in the final Harry Potter film. The couple lost their first child Lloyd due to complications caused by dwarfism at birth. Annabelle and Harrison also shared a tribute to their mum in a statement to BBC:
“Her love and happiness carried us through our whole lives. Mum is our best friend and we’re honored to have received a love like hers.”
Disney, who released both Willow and its 2022 series remake, also wrote a tribute to Samantha Davis (via BBC). They shared that Samantha was a beloved member of the U.K. film and TV community. Disney also added, “Our thoughts are with the Davis family during this difficult time.”
Warwick Davis’ last photo on Instagram showed the happy couple last October, enjoying a date night.
