In a recent interview with Bangcast, the author of the well-acclaimed book series A Song of Ice and Fire, George R.R. Martin, shared updates about the next book in the series, The Winds of Winter. He shared that he has written around 1,100 pages of the book with “hundreds more pages to go.

The author acknowledged that he is “12 years late” and has been struggling to finish the book and said, “Maybe I should’ve started writing smaller books when I began this, but it’s tough.” The update comes as a disappointment to many fans, as Martin shared something similar a year ago.

During a 2022 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, George R.R. Martin shared that The Winds of Winter could be the longest book in the series. “I think it’s going to be a very big book,” he said, stating that the sixth volume will have more than 1500 pages.
