Wolfgang Stegemann who was involved with the Netflix series in season 1 as a fight coordinator has also worked with Henry Cavill in movies like Mission: Impossible- Fallout. Both of them share a healthy bond and according to the words of Stegemann, the Man of Steel actor has a lot more input in his fight sequences from his end than the audience knows.

Both Henry Cavill and Netflix garnered immense popularity from the series based on the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. The novels were also popularized among hardcore gamers as a series of games. The Witcher also played a huge role in elevating Cavill’s fame whose DC reign as Superman faced quite a questionable future before finally coming to an end.

The Witcher has also boasted of some iconic fight sequences which are etched in the minds of the fans. Season 1 of the series gave us more exhilarating action in comparison to the second one and the fight coordinator Wolfgang Stegemann deserves huge praise for that. As Stegemann is returning once again, he added that Henry Cavill was like the second fight coordinator to him and had a lot of contributions in choreographing the sequences since the first season.

“Henry [was] like basically my second fight coordinator. So he’s coordinating and choreographing with me together, he is deeply involved in the whole process. What many people don’t know, they think the stunt team comes together and we start choreographing something and show it to him. It’s not like that. He’s, from the beginning, there and giving all his input.”

When the British heartthrob appeared in the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he also appreciated the fight coordinator- “working with Wolfie is amazing, he’s such an extraordinary stunt coordinator, a very close friend, so talented”. But even after Henry Cavill’s assurance that the upcoming season has a lot of action, the reception still holds a questionable fate after the actor’s exit.

It can be said that the status of The Witcher series hasn’t been pleasant following Henry Cavill’s exit from the show. Although, initially it looked like his DC comeback as the Caped Kryptonian prevented him from donning the role of Geralt for more time but later he also had to call it quits there. James Gunn’s plans for the new DCU didn’t have a place for Cavill’s Superman.

Later the fans were outraged when they got to know that the role went to Liam Hemsworth reportedly due to the lack of respect shown towards the source materials by the showrunners. The replacement of the Enola Holmes actor showed an immediate dip in the popularity of the show. Trusted sources reported that the teaser of Season 3 was subjected to a huge number of dislikes from the fans who didn’t want to continue the show anymore.

A spin-off mini-series titled Blood Origin was also released which failed critically and was a disaster for a show which broke so many viewership records for the streaming platform earlier. Now it will be seen if the upcoming season can be good enough to impress the fans and let them enjoy the performance of Henry Cavill as Geralt for one last time while keeping aside the negativity.

The Witcher Season 3 Part One will be streamed on Netflix on June 29, 2023, with Part Two dropping on July 27, 2023.
