As things stand, we are going to see a nerf in Apex Legends from Season 22, Shockwave. Aim Assist strength will be reduced by 25% for controllers on PC in crossplay lobbies (0.4>0.3). Apex developers hinted a long time ago that a mechanic change is coming pretty soon. Now, it’s here.

This Aim Assist nerf will only affect controller players on PC and players cross-playing into PC lobbies from Xbox and PS consoles. Console lobbies will be unaffected by the change, as there is no alteration in Aim Assist in the console version.

Simply put, aim assist is too strong in PC lobbies. We are going to reduce aim assist strength by about 25%.

Aim assist in PC felt like cheat code to play. PC players have complained several times that they were on the backfoot several times against controllers. With the crossplay lobbies, many professional players even made the switch from mouse-keyboard to controllers. That’s why players voiced out their opinions to remove the aim assist feature completely.

However, this mechanic is needed to bridge the gap between two inputs. Previously, it was just too strong to balance out. Now, after the nerf, everything should be fine. Crossplay lobbies sometimes face these kinds of disparity issues, unless it’s Valorant.

Is Call of Duty Going to Follow the Same Path?

After the nerf in the aim assist in Apex Legends controllers, fan speculation has begun regarding another game. Fans think Black Ops 6 is going to nerf the controller Aim Assist on crossplay lobbies as well to maintain a parity between two inputs.

However, it’s highly unlikely that the Activision Blizzard title is going to follow the same path. And the main reason for not nerfing Aim Assist, is the Omnimovement in the upcoming COD title. Now, what’s that?

Omnimovement is definitely just more than a buzzing word. As previously mentioned, Black Ops 6 is going to see an overhaul change in the movement mechanics, which is the first time in the franchise. So in this kind of movement, you will be able to sprint in any direction now, be it on the right, left, or backward.

With Omnimovement, you will be able to dive, slide, or enter prone in any direction you want. Now with this kind of movement, aim assists will be negligible. Players in Black Ops 6 will need immense precision and reflex to hit the enemies with advanced movement mechanics like this.
