Avengers: Secret Wars is soon becoming the next most anticipated film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The recent focus on the Multiverse has allowed several Marvel Legacy characters (those characters that do not exist in the MCU but exist in other Marvel films) to make an appearance in recent MCU films, such as Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness.

Given that multiple versions of the same character are expected to be in the film, fans have taken to social media to fan-cast their favorite artists as their favorite heroes. Be it  Daniel Radcliffe as Wolverine, or Emily Blunt as Black Widow, a peculiar casting choice is gaining momentum online: Hayden Christensen as Spider-Man/ Peter Parker.

Hayden Christensen has taken Twitter by storm

The Star Wars actor is known for his iconic character from the space opera, Anakin Skywalker. He even reprised the role in the recent Ahsoka series for Disney+. However, given how similar Hayden Christensen looks to Andrew Garfield, fans have taken to the idea of Hayden Christensen playing a version of the character in Secret Wars. Some fans have even taken to posting fan art, as is the case with X user MyTimeToShineHello:

While MyTimeToShineHello’s post has gained the most traction. others have jumped on the bandwagon as well. The idea of Christensen playing an older version of Peter Parker from yet another universe, apart from McGuire, Garfield, and Holland, has caused multiple fans to post pictures comparing the looks that Christensen has sported to the several looks that Peter Parker has rocked in the pages of his comics. Another post by Tom Ahmed @TomisBackin5M showed the same comparison which was echoed by Star Wars Holocron @sw_holocron said:

The pictures used do show a lot of similarities between Hayden Christensen and Peter Parker. Christensen pulls off the dorky look that Peter needs, while also being physically imposing enough to play the Spider-Man character, which is thanks to his training for his character in the Star Wars franchise.

Secret Wars will change the MCU

While the MCU builds up to Avengers: Secret Wars, there are a lot of things that film could do for the franchise. A popular rumor, allegedly from Kevin Feige himself, says that the film will serve as a soft reboot, where everything that is well received by fans will continue, while all that has had less than favorable feedback will be scrapped. While the pruning and straightening of the multiverse takes place, there is also the expectation that alternate versions of multiple characters will be introduced in the MCU through Secret Wars. Be it Tom Cruise’s Superior Iron Man or a grown-up T’Challa (T’Challa and Nakia’s son), everything seems to be on the table. For now, since the SAG-AFTRA strike is still working on negotiating a deal with the studios, no official casting news will be coming in the near future. However, once a fair deal is reached, we can expect more news regarding all upcoming projects from Marvel Studios.
