Who Will Julia Garner Play In The Wolf Man Reboot?

The Wolf Man reboot underwent many changes in the three years that have passed since its announcement in 2020. Announced with Insidious: Chapter 3’s Leigh Whannell set to direct after the success of his horror remake The Invisible Man, the Wolf Man reboot was set to star Ryan Gosling in the titular role. However, Whannell then left the project midway.

He was replaced by director Derek Cianfrance, with whom Gosling had worked on the films Blue Valentine and The Place Beyond the Pines. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film was described as being along the lines of Jake Gyllenhaal’s Nightcrawler and the classic Sidney Lumet film Network. The film was set to be produced by Jason Blum under the Blumhouse Productions banner.

Recently, Ozark star Julia Garner was cast in the film as the leading protagonist. According to Variety, she would be playing a mother who is terrorized by the Wolf Man. Moreover, both Ryan Gosling and Derek Cianfrance exited the project, with Gosling staying back as an executive producer. Leigh Whannell returned to the director’s chair and is set to helm the film.

Wolf Man is set to be part of Universal Studios’ Dark Universe, which was originally intended to begin with Tom Cruise’s The Mummy, which was a box office disaster. The studio had major plans for the Dark Universe, but it was foiled by the underwhelming response to the reboot. However, the Universe regained some hope with the success of Whannell’s The Invisible Man.
