When Warner Bros. Discovery decided to bring about change to save the dying DCEU after the departure of Zack Snyder, they brought in James Gunn and Peter Safran. The new CEOs of DC Studios looked at the “mess” that the universe previously was and decided to change a lot of things about it. It even meant letting go of major actors. Henry Cavill now stands replaced and there is also a hunt for a new Batman, but recent news revealed that Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman gets to stay.

The fans did not take the news lightly as the Co-CEOs let go of Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and other major actors but decided to do more projects with Gal Gadot. Now they demand either keeping them all or letting all of them go. They seem to have forgotten that the very announcement, the new bosses called it a “soft reboot.” A critic has come forward pointing out how a soft reboot might not be a great idea.

James Gunn Retaining Gal Gadot Might Not be the Best Idea

The reboot made a lot of DCEU and Zack Snyder fans very upset. The initial reports claimed that all major actors including Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and Gal Gadot would be let go. However, it did become true for the other two as Henry Cavill has now been replaced by David Corenswet and Ben Affleck even refused to direct a movie in the new DCU. Gal Gadot’s recent revelation that she is staying has taken the internet by storm.

A DC Critic, who goes by the name of BobaTalks, discussed in great detail how the soft reboot might not be a great idea. Talking about Gadot’s recent treatment in the DCEU films, like Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash, he highlighted how she was treated as a “surprise” cameo appearance to market the movies post the negative response to Wonder Woman 1984.

The critic pointed out:

“She is a picture-perfect casting of the Wonder Woman character and I know a lot of people feel that way. A lot of people enjoyed the first movie, it’s just that the second movie completely soured everything about Wonder Woman in the DCEU for a lot of people, not everyone, but a lot of people. Then she turned into cameo woman by the end of it”

The points presented were agreed upon by the fans who also stated that after the second movie, DCEU hasn’t used Gadot’s Wonder Woman to show her potential like she did when she was first introduced in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The critic also highlighted in the video that James Gunn might be able to introduce a great project for Gadot, but the question is how it would fit in the new universe.

How Would Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman Fit in the Universe?

The major question that really lingers is how in a universe where the other two heroes of the leading trio are different, Gadot would still be the same. Despite the actress’s excellent acting as Wonder Woman, the critic highlighted the recasting at least for the major characters should be done. The critic and the fans agree that it might not be the best idea. Many even went on to claim that only Zack Snyder can bring out the best in Gadot.

How will Wonder Woman fit into the new DCU?

Only time will tell how Wonder Woman fits into the new universe and whether it works out for DCU or not. James Gunn had, at the beginning of the year, announced a ten-project first Chapter of his reboot and Wonder Woman 3 wasn’t really a major part of it but it seems that now Gunn and Peter Safran have devised a way to include the threequel that was previously canceled.
