We all love Woody Harrelson not just because he’s a versatile actor who has easily graced every role, from playing a sharpshooter in Zombieland to a laid-back bowler in Kingpin, but also because he is a self-proclaimed happy hippie.
The Hollywood star has carved out a lovable public persona, which makes him one of the coolest guys in the industry. But not every happy face is genuine. Behind each smile, there are untold tales. That’s the case with Woody Harrelson as well.
The actor found himself confronting his own history when he was featured in Joel and Ethan Coen’s 2007 neo-Western crime thriller, No Country for Old Men.
Woody Harrelson’s Wild Past Followed Him into His Own 2007 Neo-Western Movie
Woody Harrelson’s wild past caught him when he starred as Carson Wells (a Vietnam veteran and hitman) in No Country for Old Men. This film is based on Cormac McCarthy’s 2005 novel of the same name.
It dwells on a real-life incident where a federal judge, John H. Wood Jr. was assassinated by none other than Charles Harrelson, a hitman and the estranged father of Woody Harrelson.
He had been accused of several murders, most famously tied with a federal judge. It gets crazier when Charles Harrelson once claimed he was also behind the JFK (John F. Kennedy) assassination. Per the Cheers star, his father was trained by the CIA, and he shared these details about the event with him.
But the Emmy-award-winning actor refused to get more into this in public because doing so “might be dangerous for him and his family” (via Fascinating‘s X post).
So, even though Frasier’s protagonist turned a deaf ear to get into this matter, he later himself featured in the film that delved into it. The crazy stuff doesn’t end here. It’s been said that Charles Harrelson might also be the biological father of Hollywood heartthrob Matthew McConaughey.
Woody Harrelson Might Have a Possible Biological Connection with Matthew McConaughey
It’s already known that Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey have been best friends for almost three decades. Although rumors are also around that, they might be half-brothers as well.
The senior Harrelson led a nomadic lifestyle and was a womanizer back in the day. Around the time McConaughey was conceived (in 1969), it was said that his mother, Mary Kathleen, hooked up with Charles Harrelson.
Both the True Detective stars have publicly stated that it’s fairly possible that they might be half-brothers. The two men, however, haven’t taken a DNA test yet.
