At BlizzCon 2023, Blizzard Entertainment announced the next three expansions for World of Warcraft, which will all be part of a larger narrative called The Worldsoul Saga. The first expansion, The War Within, is set to release in 2024.
World of Warcraft’s Worldsoul Saga: A Closer Look
The World Soul Saga is an awesome tale, within the World of Warcraft that promises to have an impact on Azeroth. In its installment “The War Within ” the narrative revolves around the conflict, between the Horde and the Alliance as they vie for control over a precious resource called Azerite. As a player, you’ll have the opportunity to explore locations face challenges, and unearth long-forgotten secrets from Azeroth’s past. Brace yourself for an exhilarating adventure!
In the year 2026, the game is receiving its anticipated major update known as “Midnight.” This update revolves around the conflict, between the heroes also known as the Alliance, and their formidable adversaries, the ancient malevolent forces referred to as the Old Gods.

These wicked entities possess a desire to bring about the destruction of our world. Players will have the thrilling opportunity to explore a haunting realm called Shadowlands, where departed souls reside. They will engage in battles, against some of the most formidable opponents ever encountered within this game.
The Last, which is the ultimate expansion is set to be launched in 2028. This expansion will mark the conclusion of the Worldsoul Saga. Showcase a clash, between the powers of righteousness and wickedness. Players will have to collaborate in order to rescue Azeroth from annihilation and decide the destiny of our world.
Here is a more detailed look at each of the three expansions of World of Warcraft:
The War Within
The War Within will take players on a journey to the heart of Azeroth, where they will explore new zones, take on new challenges, and learn more about the secrets of the world’s past.
There’s this location known as Deepholm, which is, like a hidden realm where mighty Elemental Lords reside. As a player your mission is to join forces with these Elemental Lords in order to thwart the plans of the antagonists (the Horde) who’re after Azerite, an incredibly potent resource. Therefore you’ll jump on an adventure, through this world. Collaborate with the Elemental Lords to ensure victory and save the day.
Another new zone is the Void Realm, a twisted and corrupted world that is home to the Old Gods. Players will need to venture into the Void Realm to stop the Old Gods from corrupting Azeroth.
Alongside the introduction of zones The War Within will also bring forth an addition, to the game; the Tinker class. Tinkers excel in the realm of technology utilizing their expertise to craft weaponry and ingenious gadgets.
Midnight
Midnight will take players to the Shadowlands, the realm of the dead. Players will need to explore the Shadowlands and face off against some of the most powerful enemies in the game’s history.
In the Shadowlands players will have the opportunity to explore a brand area called the Maw. This place serves as a prison where the evil souls, in Azeroth are held captive. To help their fallen comrades and overthrow the Jailer, who reigns over this realm players must venture into the depths of the Maw.
Another new zone is Ardenweald, a forest where the souls of nature go to rest. Players will need to help the Winter Queen, the ruler of Ardenweald, to restore the forest and protect the souls of nature from the forces of darkness.
Alongside the introduction of the areas, Midnight will also bring forth an addition, to the game; the Kyrian race. These celestial beings, known as Kyrians fulfill the task of guiding departed souls to the realm of Shadowlands.
The Last
The Last expansion will mark the culmination of the Worldsoul Saga showcasing a showdown, between the forces representing righteousness and malevolence. Players will join forces cooperating to safeguard Azeroth from annihilation and shape the destiny of our world.
