Kaiju No. 8, one of the most anticipated anime series of 2024 announced during the Jump Festa 24 that the anime will be streaming in April 2024. Along with the release, the anime also unveiled the trailer of the anime series. It was first disclosed that the anime would only be available for streaming on Crunchyroll, following its announcement at New York Comic Con earlier this year.
The Jump Festa announcement also mentioned that X/Twitter will be providing free simulcasting of the anime. In other words, an anime will be made officially accessible to watch on a social media site for the first time. Kaiju No. 8, often known in English as Monster #8, is an adaptation of Naoya Matsumoto’s manga of the same title.
While this is a big thing for the anime series and the social media platform, fans might not be happy about this. Fans think that X serving as a streaming platform for an anime series as big as Kaiju No. 8 might affect the series or the streaming quality.
Kaiju No. 8 Will Be Broadcasted on X
The plot of Kaiju No. 8 centers on Kafka Hibino, a man who, after consuming a kaiju, develops the ability to transform into one. He now has to use this power to navigate trying to join an organization that eradicates kaiju to keep a promise he made to a childhood friend.
The serialization of this manga began in July 2020, and it has since been collected into eleven volumes. The unusual announcement came at this year’s Jump Festa 2024 when it was confirmed that Kaiju No. 8 would be available for free on the social media site.
Furthermore, the official announcement also stated that “X has been selected for real-time worldwide distribution. Please look forward to it.” Since this is the first anime to be streamed on X (formerly Twitter), the functionality of the system is unknown. This change is an important aspect of Kaiju No. 8’s global strategy, which includes options for both Japanese and English on its website and social media pages.
Fans Are Not Too Happy About X Streaming Kaiju No. 8
The official account of X called X Business recently shared the news about the anime being officially streamed on the social media platform. Fans were not at all prepared for X to enter the very competitive streaming market with massive companies like Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu. However, this is undoubtedly an unconventional approach.
Contrary to the response, fans did not like the update and have shared their disappointed opinion about it. While the main reason for the hate has not been stated, many believe that the streaming might not be as good as other specific anime streaming services and might cause problems for Kaiju No. 8.

Looking at the initial response of anime fans regarding the news of anime being streamed on X, it does not look like fans are going to enjoy Kaiju No. 8. Also, no further information about the streaming details has been revealed yet which makes it more complicated for fans. Although it is a big initiative it does not seem to be working in the favor of Kaiju No. 8.
