Robert Downey Jr Brutally Criticized His Own Movie

You’ve had a traumatic year, you’ve been practically suicidal — what do you think would be really healing for you? How about like twelve weeks of running around as Johnny Handgun? I think that if you talk to a spirit guide, they would say, ‘That’ll kill you.’ … I thought maybe there was something I was missing, and what I really needed to do was to be in one of those films that I love taking my kid to. It would end up being really depressing.”

Despite putting his hopes on U.S. Marshals, Robert Downey Jr ended up hating his film. Therefore, in a different interview with AV Club, the actor explained how he shut out his memories of the 1988 movie. Almost comparing it with a bad trip, Downey Jr mentioned the movie had no story.

I don’t remember anything about U.S. Marshals except that we were running around and pretending like we could ever hold a candle to The Fugitive. I just remember like, ‘Strap on your bulletproof vest, you’re in the bayou!’ What the fuck what? Where’s the story?”

While U.S. Marshals undoubtedly shaped his career, Robert Downey Jr hated the movie. But fortunately, it’s not something that he is remembered for.
