Helldivers 2 is on thin ice with the community, and Arrowhead Game Studios seems to keep making missteps with its co-op PvE shooter. Fans of the game have been repeatedly stating several bugs must be fixed, and while patches have rolled out for some issues, they have also created others.

The latest one pertains to an upgrade that determines how effective Support Weapons are on the battlefield. A gun is only as useful as the amount of ammo it can carry, and while the upgrade is aimed at improving the longevity of these weapons, players are experiencing the exact opposite.

Upgrades in the game help improve various aspects of the Helldivers 2 experience. These upgrades can help turn the tide in the favor of Super Earth. However, what an upgrade claims to do and what it does have been called into question with the recent patch.

The upgrade in question is the Superior Packing Methodology. The upgrade effect states resupply boxes would refill Support Weapons with the maximum number of magazines they could carry. To the average Helldiver, this would mean the upgrade should max out the ammo capacity of Support Weapons. Sadly, this is not the case, as many Helldivers have expressed in the forum.

The issue has been persistent for a while now, and according to the Wiki, two patches have claimed to fix the problem. That doesn’t seem to be the case, as it is still not working as intended, and players have now started to question the developers. Redditor Halvars90 wonders why Twinbeard must consult the developers team on what the upgrade should do when the effect is clearly mentioned under the description.

While it’s a frustrating occurrence, some replies in the thread are offering ways by which Arrowhead may backpedal the issue. One Redditor states they may say the upgrade is working as intended and that the description is incorrect. This would mean there isn’t a bug, merely an incorrect description of how the upgrade operates.

Arrowhead Game Studios Under Heavy Fire From Multiple Angles

The community is coming together to offer feedback for the good of the game.
The community is coming together to offer feedback for the good of the game.

It’s not been an easy time for the Helldivers 2 team. There were always some issues and glitches with the game, and the team recently released a massive patch, but the real contention with the fan base began during the account-linking saga. Ever since then, the concurrent player numbers have never peaked as high as they were, and the criticisms have been mounting.

The most recent pertains to the latest Helldivers 2 Warbond, Viper Commandos. Many in the community are unhappy with the offerings of the recent content update, claiming it is not worth the asking price to receive so little. Arrowhead has heard this feedback and now plans to scale back its Warbond release schedule to focus on quality.

The development team also needs to focus on some big bugs and fixes that are hindering a smooth experience. With a more reasonable Warbond release schedule, the team may also have more time and resources to dedicate to patching the game.
