In a recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Cody Rhodes relinquished his WrestleMania 40 main event spot to The Rock, leading to substantial backlash. The dynamics shifted during the WrestleMania 40 kickoff press conference, adding significant drama to the situation. This is because Cody Rhodes got his main event back by choosing it himself.

Triple H would also double down on Cody Rhodes’ choice despite The Rock insisting he fix the situation at the press conference. With that said, there are a few ways The Rock could compete at WrestleMania 40 despite what Triple H said regarding Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 40 status.

Possible Ways The Rock Can Compete At WrestleMania 40 Despite Triple H’s Verdict

The Rock was rumored to headline WrestleMania 40 against Roman Reigns in the main event but that’s not happening as Cody Rhodes chose Reigns instead. Triple H also stated that the decision is final. With that said, we will list the ways The Rock can still compete at WrestleMania 40.

1) Fatal 4 Way

One of the most obvious ways WWE could have The Rock compete at the Showcase of The Immortals is to have him compete in a fatal four way match. The obvious opponents would be Cody Rhodes, The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and any other top contender to fill in the last slot. The likes of LA Knight, AJ Styles or even Randy Orton could very well fit the bill for the fatal four way bout at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

2) Tag Team With Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes

The WrestleMania 40 press conference took an unexpected turn when an altercation broke out between The Rock and Cody Rhodes. The incident unfolded as Roman Reigns suggested that Rhodes had missed his chance to choose his WrestleMania opponent, prompting Reigns to select The Rock

Cody Rhodes then intervened by picking The Rock for a rematch at WrestleMania 40, sparking a heated confrontation involving Reigns, The Rock, Seth Rollins, and others.

Due to their heated confrontation, another direction WWE could go with is to have The Rock and Roman Reigns team up for a tag team match against Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes on Night One of WrestleMania 41. With almost two months left till the event, WWE could certainly go with this direction in mind.

3) The Rock vs Roman Reigns on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40

The Rock vs Roman Reigns in a singles match would be a blockbuster matchup no matter what. With Cody Rhodes taking on Roman Reigns in the main event of Night 2 of WrestleMania 40, there is always the chance of WWE booking The Rock to square off against Roman Reigns in the main event of Night 1 of WrestleMania 40. This seems like a very possible option and would ensure fans get to see Cody Rhodes finish the story as well.

4) Triple Threat Match

Of course, WWE could very well change course and have The Rock compete in the main event of Night 2 of WrestleMania 40 anyway. They could do so by inserting The Rock into Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes’ WWE Undisputed Universal Title match, thus making it a triple threat.

This move would be akin to Daniel Bryan defeating Batista and Randy Orton at WrestleMania 30 back in 2014 or Chris Benoi beating Triple H and Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 20 back in 2004. There are many options WWE has for The Great One, so we will have to see what they will do in the end. You can catch WrestleMania 40 on Peacock in the USA and the WWE Network elsewhere. The event will be taking place on April 6th and 7th, 2024 and the hype for the event remains truly unmatched.
