Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a massive name in both wrestling and Hollywood and made headlines with his recent actions. He joined the board of TKO Holding Group, the parent company of WWE and UFC, showcasing his continued interest and participation in the wrestling world.
In addition to that, he recently turned heel before WrestleMania 40 and engaged in a heated confrontation with Triple H at the WrestleMania 40 press event. In light of this, there is just one person Triple H should bring back to even the odds with The Rock and his name is ”Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
Fans have expressed a strong desire to witness a match between The Rock and Roman Reigns at some point. However, there was notable concern last week on Friday Night SmackDown that this potential bout could interfere with Cody Rhodes completing his ongoing storyline. Fortunately, there has been a positive shift in direction for WrestleMania 40.
The Rock Had An Explosive Confrontation With Triple H Recently
The WrestleMania 40 press conference took an unexpected turn when The Rock and Cody Rhodes were involved in an altercation. The altercation unfolded as Roman Reigns stated that Rhodes had missed his opportunity to choose his WrestleMania opponent, prompting Reigns to select The Rock. Rhodes intervened by picking The Rock for a rematch at WrestleMania 40, leading to a heated confrontation involving Reigns, The Rock, Seth Rollins, and others.
The situation escalated, leading to The Rock slapping Cody Rhodes after accusing him of disrespecting his family. Triple H, Nick Aldis, and WWE officials had to intervene to break up the altercation.
After the altercation, The Rock issued a stern warning to WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H, expressing his dissatisfaction with what took place at the press event. He also used strong language, cussing out Triple H and instructing him to rectify the situation during the press conference.
“You got to fix it. Fix it. Have him talk s**t about our family again. And that’s what happens. It’s not out of line. Have him talk s**t, and if you don’t fix it, we will. Have him talk s**t about our family again.”
Triple H would really tear into The Rock on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, making it clear he is the boss of things and not The Great One. It was made abundantly clear he and The Rock will feud again soon.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer made it clear Triple H isn’t going to come out of retirement to face The Rock in a singles match, despite speculation. This is due to the fact he has heart issues and has a pacemaker.
“They played their little game that they want to wrestle each other at WrestleMania. Last time I was told, that wasn’t even gonna happen. I couldn’t even imagine, you know, he has a pacemaker, so he made it clear that’s not gonna happen.”
We will have to wait and see what will become of The Rock and Roman Reigns in the coming weeks, as fans are most definitely invested in their current storyline for good reason.
Triple H Could Bring Back An Actual Threat To Combat The Rock
There are many legendary WWE Superstars who have feuded with The Rock over the course of his career, but there is just one person who truly defined The Rock’s time in WWE and that is none other than WWE Hall of Famer ”Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
The Rock and ”Stone Cold” Steve Austin defined the Attitude Era, as their iconic trilogy matches at WrestleMania 15, 17 and 19 remain the best-received trilogy in the history of WWE. The Texas Rattlesnake last competed at WrestleMania 38, where he defeated Kevin Owens in a No Holds Barred match, which marked his first match in 19 years.
Therefore, Triple H could very well bring back The Bionic Elbow to bring some law and order to WWE, especially considering the fact that The Great One is finally a heel for the first time since 2003. We’ll have to see whether Steve Austin will return to WWE television.
