We’re only 6 weeks away from the next WWE event, which is none other than the two night spectacular—WrestleMania 40.
The show will be at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. WWE Elimination Chamber 2024 announced two big WrestleMania 40 matches: Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre and Becky Lynch vs. Rhea Ripley.
Now, fans are hoping for a match between The Rock and Triple H, too. Since The Rock’s match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 got canceled, people have been guessing who he’ll face next.
Lately, there has been talk that The Rock and WWE COO Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque might have filmed a promo together and could be gearing up for a match.
The rumors got stronger when Triple H showed up on SmackDown on February 9, 2024, right after the WrestleMania Kickoff press event. He took aim at The Rock during his appearance.
Levesque responded to the Hollywood star’s comment about Cody Rhodes, saying, “some people try to assert their authority when they don’t have any.”
After this, fans started to speculate about a possible match after The Rock replied the next week. Their recent actions also fueled speculation that something big is cooking between the two.
The Rock and Triple H are Planning Something Big for WrestleMania 40?
The Rock and retired WWE star Paul “Triple H” Levesque had faced each other quite a few times in their careers, battling for the Intercontinental and WWE Championships.
They were always at odds with one another. Recently, WWE teamed up with A&E to make a documentary about their rivalry for the WWE Rivals series.
Triple H commented on the documentary, writing that they were meant to “do this forever,” thanking God while writing so. This might also hint at their ongoing feud.
Dwayne Johnson then retweeted a message saying he hoped everyone enjoyed the documentary they worked hard on for years. He also mentioned he respects Triple H a lot.
Hope everyone out there enjoys this tonight as much as we did paving the road over the years. There’s no business, like the pro wrestling business and I LOVE it. Boundless respect to my brother @TripleH. Blood, sweat and ‘thanks for the house’. #WWERivals @WWE @AETV 8/7c https://t.co/YNSQi8y8c5

WWE on A&E returns with new seasons of WWE Rivals and Biography: WWE Legends starting Sunday, February 25th. A+E’s WWE Rivals talked about Triple H and The Rock’s feud from the early 2000s, when they fought over the World Championship.
The unexpected release of the documentary got fans thinking they might face off again at WrestleMania 40. Fans shared their reactions online, check them out:

Since The Rock isn’t up against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, will he face Triple H instead? If so, then it could be one of the biggest match of the event.
Could a Match Between The Rock and Triple H Happen?
PWInsider‘s Sports journalist Aaron Varble has stated that there’s nothing to the rumor about The Rock fighting Triple H at WrestleMania 40.
He confirmed that no promo has been filmed for it and that the match between The Rock and Triple H won’t happen at all. He was quoted as saying:
“There is absolutely zero truth to the idea that was even filmed, much less that it’s going to happen. I’m not sure where that started but it seemed as if the alleged verbiage was actually from a faceoff the two had nearly a decade ago for a tease of a bout that never actually happened. There’s not a lot that I would say can never happen in WWE, but Paul Levesque returning for a main event level match after his heart issues – that one I absolutely do not see, especially if people are assuming it based on such a silly report.”
In 2014, The Rock had Triple H film a promo during his special appearance on SmackDown. But the match they planned never happened.
The major reason why it may not happen is because Triple H experienced a serious heart problem in 2021, leading to his retirement in April 2022.
He suffered a big heart failure, which required a 15-hour surgery. As a result, he is unable to wrestle anymore. Therefore, it’s clear that neither The Rock nor Triple H will be fighting in the ring.
WrestleMania 40 is scheduled for Saturday, April 6th, and Sunday, April 7th, 2024, airing on Peacock, WWE Network, and pay-per-view.
