The X-Men may have been one of the biggest and most crucial aspects of the lore of Marvel Comics in general, but so far in the MCU, they have been absent ever since the franchise started to expand from the first film. Thus, when it was revealed that Marvel Studios would be releasing X-Men ’97 on Disney+, comic book enthusiasts breathed a sigh of relief.

Created as a continuation of the original animated series from the 1990s, the show seeks to introduce the MCU’s take on this superhero team of mutants despite not being canon to the franchise.

But what this show managed to do exceptionally well was to showcase just how naturally terrifying the character of Storm is with comic accuracy, played by Halle Berry in the original X-Men live-action films.

It should not be a surprise for fans of Marvel Comics or Marvel Studios to see the importance of the X-Men in their ranks, especially the MCU, which is why they have now started to push for the introduction of the team of Mutants in the franchise going forward. In that journey, the recently released X-Men ’97 has proven to be a successful step in the right direction.

With the release of the first two episodes, the show has managed to impress the audience with its visual and narrative aspects equally as it further explores the tale of the mutant superhero team from the original animated series released in 1992. In its most recent episode, the show managed to put Storm, one of the team members, on the pedestal she rightfully deserves.

In this episode, the fans were introduced to the true powers of the character with her ability to control the climate while able to summon thunderstorms and lighting rivaling the God of Thunder Thor himself at times. This show of terrifying superpowers wasn’t explored far enough when Halle Berry was playing the role of the character in the original X-Men live-action films in the early 2000s.

Thus, the gravity of the superhero’s power and mutant strength is something that was done justice through the medium of the animated series.

The show also expands on the life of Cyclops and Jean Grey, who are expecting their son to be born, and decide to leave the team and raise him away from the negativity faced by their comrades and brethren.

Along with that, the show also shows Magneto taking control of The Institute as he claims Professor X willed him to do so.
