The buzz around Marvel’s X-Men film has powered up after news of another mutant film was teased recently. Marvel has been hinting at the inclusion of the X-Men team in the MCU, for quite some time now. Moreover, with Hugh Jackman reprising Wolverine in the much-anticipated Deadpool 3 in 2024, further cements the fact that a solo X-Men feature in MCU is on the way.
After Disney bought back the rights to the X-Men franchise from 20th Century Fox in 2019, talks of Marvel’s X-Men feature sparked up. Therefore, with recent updates, it was revealed that Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff shall reconnect with a veteran mutant, in the MCU. A recent update on social media teased that Magneto, the leader of the villainous team Brotherhood of Mutants, may reunite with his daughter in another MCU film based on the X-Men mutants.

A father-daughter reunion of the mutants
Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, persistently portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen, has originally been part of the evil Marvel team, Brotherhood of Mutants but gravitated towards X-Men later on, per the comics. Her bloodline traces back to the founder of the Brotherhood of Mutants, Magneto, and Magda. In the comic issue, X-Men: Trial of Magneto #5, Maximoff confirmed that Magneto was her father.

Therefore, Marvel head Kevin Feige has a master plan that would bolster the father-daughter reunion in the MCU. News has erupted that Feige is ideating a riveting plot to connect the mutant father-daughter pair Magneto and Scarlet Witch within the MCU. A Twitter post via scooper David Richtman teased the possibility of Magneto being left out in the X-Men MCU reboot, and instead the crucial villain getting his feature with Brotherhood of Mutants.
Thus, an ideal Brotherhood of Mutants team would flaunt evil mutants like Magneto, of course, Astra, Toad, and Mastermind, if not Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, per Marvel Comics. It is also known that Quicksilver/Pietro Maximoff is Wanda’s brother, and they both were raised by Magneto and Magda, as young mutants. Notably, the Magneto-led team wanted to establish mutant dominance over humankind or erase them from the face of the earth altogether. So we roughly know how the movie may unfold in the future.
What is MCU’s X-Men reboot going to look like?
According to Marvel, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver joined the Avengers after their father was held captive by Stranger. However, Marvel’s latest strategy is to proceed with the MCU, focusing on X-Men. Hence, the craze around MCU’s X-Men reboot.
As per a report by ScreenGeek, the reboot is expected to portray a female lead, possibly Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, but we don’t know yet. And fans are expecting that there is a high chance that the most popular X-Men villain, Magneto might not get a feature in this one.
Although a lot about the upcoming X-Men plot is still unknown, it is expected that the movie shall surface around MCU’s Phase 7. Soon after the WGA strikes concluded, Marvel went looking for scriptwriters for their X-Men reboot which confirms that the movie is in development, per Deadline. Furthermore, not even a tentative release date has made way yet.
