The shift from being an international athlete to a bonafide A-List film star is something that not many can boast of today, that is unless you are Jason Statham. The career shift from being a man representing England in the Commonwealth Games to playing some of the most bada*s action roles in films over the years has proven to be a wise decision for the star.

While he may have been part of some of the most iconic franchises in the film industry, he started his journey with an indie film created by director Guy Ritchie. The film titled Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was his first film that also proved to be his breakthrough role, a film that could very well have been ruined because of Vinne Jones’ violent behavior on set.

Considered to be one of the most ruthless and lethal actors in the film industry thanks to his action-star persona and the films he’s done over the years, Jason Statham looks like the man who would enjoy violence to the highest extent. But just like most people out there, he too believes that it should be in moderation, otherwise, people might end up like his co-star Vinnie Jones.

During the shoot of his breakthrough film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Jones let his violent thoughts take over, which caused him a trip to the cell of a police station.

In a past interview with The Independent, the cast and crew of the aforementioned film got together to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the film. Here, Nick Moran, who plays Eddy in the film, revealed that halfway through the shoot, the X-Men: The Last Stand star got into a fight with one of his neighbors and beat them up pretty badly, which got him arrested.

He remembers Jones coming into the shoot while holding legal papers in his hands right from the police station. He said:

“Vinnie got arrested halfway through filming. He’d beaten up a neighbour, like really smashed him up and Matt phoned me saying he’s been arrested and we have to change filming around. I go to set and later Vinnie turns up in a paper suit as he’d come straight from the cells to set. He was capable of his own bits of drama.”

It’s worth mentioning that Jones was actually a professional soccer player before he became a star and was known as one of the most violent players on the field.

A story of four friends getting into deep trouble because of some seriously bad decisions is what put Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie on the map of the industry. This film was such a cult-classic hit that even Tom Crusie became a fan.

The story tells the tale of Eddy, who along with his four friends, makes a plan to double their money through a high-stakes poker game with a local crime boss. But when he does show hands with him, the boss cheats and leaves Eddy with a crushing debt. Thus, the four buddies decide to pay the boss off by stealing from members of the underworld, which gets them into comically sticky situations.
