Delays are inevitable in an industry where development teams race to launch their projects on time, but various production issues and other factors can affect this. Unfortunately, following in the footsteps of Avowed, another Xbox exclusive has confirmed its delay to 2025.
This time, the next title to be delayed is Replaced, developed by Sad Cat Studios. The studio confirmed the delay and stated they will focus on improving the game’s standards to meet the expectations they aim to deliver to players.
Following in the Footsteps of Avowed, Another Xbox Exclusive Gets Delayed
Unfortunately, even when studios aim for a specific release date for a major title, various factors can prevent them from meeting that deadline. Even the development team cannot always release a project as initially planned.
This is why, especially with big-budget games, it’s sometimes necessary to delay the release until the game is ready, as was the case with Avowed, which recently confirmed its new 2025 release window.
Another title, originally slated to launch on Xbox Game Pass, has now confirmed an indefinite delay until some time next year.
The game in question is Replaced, offering an extraordinary visual element that seamlessly blends 2D and 3D, featuring pixel art touches in a cyberpunk world with a detective vibe. Sad Cat Studios is developing this title, and the trailers and gameplay have significantly impressed players.
Replaced Gets Delayed to 2025
This title places us in the role of an AI trapped in a human body, unravelling various mysteries to discover the truth about its past. The setting of Replaced takes place in an alternate retro-futuristic United States during the 1980s.
The game will feature platforming action in environments that emphasize its unique and incomparable visual style. The story takes place in the aftermath of several devastating nuclear disasters.
This is the second major game to confirm a delay within just a few weeks, following the announcement by Obsidian Entertainment’s highly anticipated title Avowed, which also confirmed a delay and is now set for release in February of next year.
It’s likely that these won’t be the last games to announce delays, as this is common with such large projects. However, players are still hopeful that this won’t happen again for the remainder of 2024.
Sad Cat Studios will debut with this ambitious project, which seems to be a fantastic way for the indie studio to start gaining recognition. It’s highly likely that this title will receive positive reviews, giving the studio a chance to experiment with a potential new project.
The indie gaming industry is evolving rapidly, showing more and more ambitious games with lower budgets, proving that talent knows no bounds.
