In a comment on ResetEra posted on Saturday, the leaker claimed that Mafia would join Xbox Game Pass next month. When asked for specifics, they confirmed it would be the Definitive Edition, Hangar 13’s remake of the 2002 original title.

Featuring 4K visuals, gameplay updates, and all-new content, the Definitive Edition is an overall enhanced version of the first installment. A trilogy including the remake and remasters of the second and third titles launched in 2020 to commemorate the series’ 20th anniversary.

The informant didn’t specify when exactly the title would join Microsoft’s service and whether it would include the entire trilogy. If that’s the case, fans would get a chance to relive the entire series ahead of Mafia 4, which was confirmed to be in development in 2022.

Fans of the series have been waiting for updates on the next installment since. Not much is known about the title, while rumors suggest it is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and set to be a prequel to the trilogy.

A few weeks ago, rumors about an imminent announcement abounded but turned out to be false. Should the remake launch on Microsoft’s service, this could soothe fans as they wait for updates on the next game.

As this is just a leak, it needs to be taken with a grain of salt. So far, only three titles have officially been confirmed to hit Xbox Game Pass next month:

  • August 7 will see the Xbox release of the Pokemon-like monster-catching game, Creatures of Ava.
  • On August 27, the new co-op mining sandbox game Core Keeper will launch on the service.
  • A new indie narrative adventure, SOPA – Tale Of The Stolen Potato, will be added at some point in August.

Other leaks have suggested that the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy might get added to the library in a couple of weeks as well. Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait long to find out if these leaks are true.
