It’s fair to say that it’s been a pretty decent year for Microsoft’s Xbox so far, with plenty of game releases and third-party support. The recent showcase has proved that Microsoft is still putting all of its eggs in the basket, confirming a total of 18 new games that will soon hit its Game Pass service.
While it’s great to see that Xbox is finally getting exclusives and games that might help the console reach its glory days again, it’s going to miss out on another game, which proves the lack of faith among the developers for the brand’s future.
Xbox Consoles Are Going to Miss Out on The Classic Fear Effect Experience

The original Fear Effect was released way back in early 2000 for the PS1. The game was hailed as a groundbreaking action-adventure title that blended puzzle-solving with intense combat and an immersive narrative.
Its use of cel-shaded graphics and cyberpunk aesthetic allowed it to stand out among its competitors at the same.
It’s a known fact that the game left a lasting impression on gamers back in the day, but we’ll now be experiencing it on our modern consoles. Limited Run Games gave us details about Fear Effect‘s upcoming release in 2025.
While PS and Nintendo Fans were excited to see the return of the cult classic, Xbox fans were left in the dust again as it was revealed that the title would be skipping the console.
Although it’s quite sad to see such a beloved game skipping one of the major consoles, it’s not the first time we’ve seen this happening. The announcement of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection during Nintendo Direct delighted many fans because it brought one of the most loved games to modern platforms in years.
However, while the game is coming to Switch, PS4, and PC, the developer’s decision to skip Xbox consoles altogether caused a massive outrage in the community. Capcom made its announcement without even giving gamers a reason to skip the console.
Xbox Is In a Really Tough Spot Right Now

A few years ago, many believed that Xbox was set to take over the gaming world. Microsoft decided to outright purchase major studios, announced several blockbuster games, and completely redefined the Game Pass experience.
Despite the acquisition of beloved studios such as Bethesda, Activision-Blizzard, the platform is lagging behind its competitors. Sure, Microsoft is bringing day-one releases such as Black Ops 6 to Game Pass, but that doesn’t hide away the failures of their console.
All the talent in the world still can’t make an exclusive for the console that would carry the same influence as Tears of the Kingdom or The Last of Us. What’s worse is that now, even developer support for Microsoft’s consoles is flatlining.
Many third-party studios have complained about the amount of effort that goes into creating a Series S and X version of a game when the majority of the market is in PC and PS5. It’s time for Microsoft and Phil Spencer to get their act together; otherwise, the future isn’t looking too bright.
