Toufexis even joked as he asked his fans to check if Elon Musk could sponsor an animated series or another way to finish the game. Toufexis stressed the fact that the character of Jensen would always stay close to his heart and that he would stay associated with the character.

Toufexis also ensured he voiced his anger at the way the entire project got canceled. Toufexis stated he was particularly angered about the cancellation of the game as several employees from Eidos Interactive were laid off.

He went on to reveal other projects he was involved in that also got the boot and that he’s also working on some that could face the same fate.

Toufexis also took to X to post his thoughts on the layoffs in the gaming industry. Toufexis revealed that he was working on a second big title, apart from Deus Ex, in which he was both “acting and directing“, which also got canceled. A third game he was working on got “reworked” with a new team, as Toufexis revealed he was acting and directing the game.

In all, Toufexis mentioned he is currently working on around “two or three other games“, but he also stated all of these have the potential to be canceled in the coming days. Replying to his fans on X, he mentioned he’s in a better state of mind despite all of that and that the videogame companies are “right now in a weird place.” He also said he hoped things would get “straightened out“.

Just this year, Riot Games and Microsoft have both continued the unfortunate trend of layoffs, with several employees getting affected. While Riot Games ensured assistance to those who were affected and couldn’t get into a new position in every way possible, not all of the other studios were equally supportive.

As employees in the gaming industry get impacted by more layoffs almost every month, titles like Deus Ex and other projects are getting affected too. Not getting a concluding title to a fan-favorite franchise is what riles up fans the most.

Toufexis has voiced for Assassin’s Creed and Gotham Knights, among other games, so he will continue to remain in the gaming industry despite the unfortunate departures.
