Microsoft has made several very complicated decisions regarding the management of studios that it has acquired; last month, the company shut down four studios. One of the studios was behind the masterpiece Hi-Fi Rush, whereas another studio that is still active is behind the recent Hellblade 2 game, which arguably didn’t have as much success.
On X, there is a discussion about the numbers for these two titles. The one from Ninja Theory has almost 4,000 all-time players on Steam, while the other has almost 7,000. The first was released less than 10 days ago.
Hellblade 2’s Minor Success Got Tango Gameworks Closed, According to Fans
Ninja Theory has finally released Hellblade 2 on May 21 for PC, Xbox Series S/X, and Game Pass. Fans and reviewers critically acclaimed this title, praising the narrative-driven adventure that does not prioritize gameplay.
Many fans claim that this is the first true next-generation title due to its amazing graphics, which fully utilize the power of Unreal Engine 5, a feat the studio masterfully manages.
On X, a discussion raged on after a user posted the all-time peak players on Steam of Hellblade 2 and Hi-Fi Rush; the last one surpassed the other by almost 3,000 players.
I find it unbelievable that Hi-Fi Rush has a better all-time player count peak than Hellblade II and overall better reviews….and yet, Tango gets the axe while Ninja Theory gets greenlit for another project

This user said that it makes no sense why Microsoft closed down Tango Gameworks, seeing that the result of the game is clearly more popular than the recent exclusive title for Xbox. Many players express dissatisfaction with the studio’s proximity to others.
Xbox Chose Ninja Theory for Several Reasons
The discussion took a different path when various users pointed out that Ninja Theory is a better choice because of the outstanding control that the studio has for Unreal Engine 5, something that Microsoft needs for future games. The users talked about how this studio could make excellent work with fewer employees, and compared to Tango Gameworks, the quality is a lot better.
Players also referred to the latest Senua game as a technical demo that could set the bar for upcoming titles using this spectacular graphic engine. Aside from the difference in player numbers, all users agree that this studio’s utility could make a real difference for future players. The fans all think that this company can really bring the A game to Microsoft in the exclusives field.
Hellblade 2 achieved a solid 80 on Metacritic, with many critics praising it as a unique narrative title that offers a refreshingly short experience compared to the first title. In the upcoming Xbox Summer Showcase, the company will feature several new titles, like Gears 6, the new Call of Duty, and other very anticipated games that fans are eager to see released on Microsoft’s hardware.
