Her work in the movie also landed her the fourth Oscar nomination, and the actress surely deserved it as her performance even fooled her co-star into believing that she had actually fallen for him. The movie’s director, Nancy Meyers, shared the incident during the Tribeca Film Festival.

In a conversation with Vulture, she shared that the confusion happened during the scene where Erica confesses her feelings for Harry. Meyers told Vulture that Nicholson called her after one rehearsal and told her, “Diane just told me she loves me.”

Meyers, who was confused about where it was coming from, told him, “Yes, I know, I wrote that line. It’s in the script, Jack,” only to realize that The Shining star believed that the Oscar-winning actress had actually fallen for him and confessed her love for him.

Diane Keaton Did Fall For One of Her Co-Stars

While Diane Keaton did not fall for Jack Nicholson while working with him in Something’s Gotta Give, the actress did fall in love with one of her co-stars since she started working with him. Keaton starred opposite Al Pacino in the legendary film series The Godfather.

She has shared that she had a crush on her co-star when they started filming the movie. “I was really very taken with Al from the very beginning,” Keaton said during an interview with The Telegraph. The Annie Hall star was madly in love with his charm and personality. The romance between the two blossomed after The Godfather 2.

Keaton even claimed that The Godfather trilogy was only about Pacino for her. “For me, the Godfathers, all three of them, were about one thing — Al,” she mentioned in her memoir, as per The New York Times. The couple started dating in 1974 and had an on-again-off-again relationship before they broke up in 1990.

Keaton was looking forward to settling down with Pacino, but he was not ready to commit. While reflecting on their split, the Reds actress later shared that it would not have been a good idea for her to get married. She has adopted two children and has remained unmarried, similar to Pacino, who has been in several relationships and is father to four children.
