Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel wasn’t always going to be the short-haired, narcissistic character that she was portrayed in the MCU. Back in the olden days when Marvel Comics depicted her character, she was known as Ms. Marvel!
Talking about how the portrayal of Ms. Marvel was wrong in the comics, Brie Larson had once stated that she would have walked out of the set of Captain Marvel if she had to wear a leotard and that is how the the character of Captain Marvel became this character.
When Brie Larson Would Have Walked Out Of The Building
The Marvel Comics featured the original Carol Danvers called Ms. Marvel in the beginning and spent quite a time with that name. In the 1970s. the character even left NASA to work as a feminist publisher to run a publication called Woman.
Kelly Sue DeConnick, the American comic book writer worked in creating Ms. Marvel to Captain Marvel in 2012. The writer has an iconic quote that if everything from a female character would have been taken away and replaced with a sexy lamp and it still works, then the comics are wrong.
“If you can take out your female character and replace her with a sexy lamp and your plot still functions, you’re doing it wrong.”
To top off the quote, Brie Larson had once been warned to walk out of the building if she had been offered to wear a leotard for her role as Captain Marvel (via Time).
“If they had presented me with a leotard, I would have walked out of the building.”
The feministic portrayal of the movie made Samuel L. Jackson also speak out in favor of how the movie was made.

Samuel L. Jackson Also Agrees With Captain Marvel
Portraying the role of Nick Fury in the MCU, Jackson worked alongside Brie Larson in the 2019 movie. Agreeing with how the role of Captain Marvel was portrayed throughout the film, Samuel L. Jackson talked about how the movie gives hope (via Time).
“You see a movie with a powerful woman in it, and you realize that you are powerful too. Or you look up and somebody that was 28-year-old nobody beats some guy who’s been in Congress for 10 f-cking years, and that means there’s hope,”
With the upcoming movie The Marvels on the verge of release, the film was considered to be a failure but the pre-release reviews have been incredible.
