“They had no script, man. We would show up everyday and we wouldn’t know what we were going to say. We would have to call up the writers on the phone: ‘You got any ideas?'”

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe establishing itself firmly in Hollywood, Jon Favreau was quite overwhelmed after the first Avengers came out. Speaking with MTV News, the director stated that he wasn’t sure what Iron Man 3 was anymore since he had to bring in several other characters in the film too.

In theory, Iron Man 3 is going to be a sequel or continuation of Thor, Hulk, Captain America, and Avengers. This whole world… I have no idea what it is. I don’t think they do either, from conversations I’ve had with those guys.”

Stepping down from the role, Iron Man 3 was directed by Shane Black and the movie received average success and mixed ratings. The Robert Downey Jr. franchise is available to stream on Disney+ in the U.S.
