“People put a lot of money into these things and they want them to be profitable. But if I look at the industry as a whole, this big push into superhero movies… you can only make so many good ones that feel truly original, and yet they’re still always trying to reach as many people as possible, which sometimes hinders quality or specificity or real point of view.”

Paltrow meant that studios take huge risks with their movies and only hope for a profit. In this process, the quality suffers and the content doesn’t stand out. Some of Marvel’s recent big-budget films like The Marvels, Madame Web, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania were annihilated by the critics.

Further in the interview, Paltrow backed up low-budget films she believes that there is less risk and allows creators to experiment with their ideas,

“You get more diversity of art when there is less at stake and people can express their true voice and make a film the way they want to make it. Those are generally the more resonant ones.”

Paltrow’s last performance as Pepper Potts was in Avengers: Endgame (2019) and now, the actress feels like there is no place for her in the franchise. Last year, Paltrow was asked by a user on Instagram about her future in the MCU, and the actress said, “Why do you need Pepper Potts without Iron Man?” As of now, the actress is occupied with her business ventures. However, she is still open to returning as Pepper Potts.
