According to media reports, Johansson auditioned for the lead role in the 2011 movie The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. She lost the role however since director David Fincher claimed that she was too s*xy to portray the lead character and instead chose Rooney Mara.

Scarlett Johansson Was Turned Down For Being Too Beautiful

After portraying some notable and iconic roles throughout her Hollywood career, people came to recognize Scarlett Johansson. The actress has been hailed as one of the finest and is often seen portraying a wide range of characters and appearances.

In 2011, veteran director David Fincher adapted the Nordic book The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo for the big screens. The Se7en director talked about the audition process that went underway to find the lead actress and ended up selecting Rooney Mara. According to Fincher however, MCU star Scarlett Johansson had perfectly nailed the role but there was just one problem.

As per the words of the acclaimed director, David Fincher stated that the problem with Johansson was that people can’t wait for her to take off her clothes.

“We flew in people from New Zealand and Swaziland and all over the place. Look, we saw some amazing people. Scarlett Johansson was great. It was a great audition, I’m telling you. But the thing with Scarlett is, you can’t wait for her to take her clothes off.”

After Johansson’s dismissal, Rooney Mara was hired and it worked out pretty well in the end. With David Fincher at the helm of the movie as its director, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo got a whopping 7.8/10 on IMDB and a high of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. As for The Prestige actress, she is currently busy raising her toddler and even jokingly defined the relationship as an “emotionally abusive relationship”

In an episode of The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast, Johansson opened up about her opinions on motherhood. Talking about her child Rose Dorothy Dauriac, the actress stated that during the initial years, it was all nice but when she turned three, it felt like an emotionally abusive relationship.

“I remember my daughter when she was two, I said, ‘This is great. I don’t know what everybody is talking about.’ And then she turned three, and it’s like being in an emotionally abusive relationship.”

The actress further continued,

“Very intense emotional swings and so bossy and adamant, and like, it’s just crazy. And, also these huge mood swings, constant mood swings.”

After her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Scarlett Johansson is currently associated with 5 upcoming projects in various stages of development. The actress was last seen in the 2021 role of Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
