Starting as the apprentice of the Pirate King Gol D. Roger, Red-Hair Shanks soon became one of the most notorious names in Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece. The name of the character is shrouded with mystery because, in 25 years of the Shonen series’ run, he has limited screen time.
As a result, the character has become a hot topic of conversation among the fans, as they discuss his powers and what would happen if he decided to go all out. It is a well-known fact that the captain of the Red-Hair Pirates is Dracule Mihawk’s rival, with a swordsman’s skill that rivals his, and with his Haki being on another level altogether.
Fans believe that if he gets serious, then world-changing events will take place. However, Oda-Sensei had taken a considerable step, as he gave a massive weakness to the Yonko that would make the Red-Hair Pirates’ fleet crumble like a house of sand.
Eiichiro Oda Gave Shanks a Massive Flaw That Could be Achieved by The Monster Trio
Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is ruled by the Four Emperors of the Sea: Monkey D. Luffy, Buggy, Blackbeard, and Shanks. The Four Emperors have demonstrated their abilities and proven that they alone are capable of posing a serious threat to the World Government and becoming the next Pirate King.
However, the manga artist has given a major weakness to the mysterious Emperor, who single-handedly defeated Eustass Kid and his crew with a single strike. Despite everything, the Yonko has one fatal weakness that can be easily exposed by Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji, popularly known as The Monster Trio.
Ohara, a renowned anime YouTuber, stated that Red-Haired Shanks is arguably one of the strongest characters in the OP verse, where he showcases a glimpse of his powers to the fans. However, the most fatal limitation following the Red-Haired Pirates is how everything centers on the Captain itself.
The creator explained that all of the “pressure and power start at a small point.” It means that everything depends on Shanks and then his officers will take charge of the situation. As a result, despite having a massive fleet, they crumbled in an instant without the Emperor, when Kid attacked them during the Egghead Island Saga.
Hence, he has a very sneaky suspicion that if a character is strong enough to stop the Captain, then he will fall. As a result, he believes that this is how Yonko got the scar from Blackbeard, further reinforcing this notion that if a crew has “one or two additional powerhouses like the monster trio, for example, you could absolutely lure Shanks into a death trap.”
Ohara mocked the grand fleet of the Red Hair Pirates, by calling out some of the names of his fleet members and stating that the Captain and his officers are absolutely necessary to save them from a real threat.

Episode 1112 of Oda-Sensei’s magnum opus finally featured the much-anticipated rematch between Kid and The Emperor of the Sea. Despite the rematch, it was not much like a battle, as the latter destroyed Eustass Kid and his crew with a single shot with his Kamusari (Divine Departure).
This is the only time he used a named attack, where he unleashed a Haki-infused move, launching a fatal slash on his foe. This is the only moment, where he showcased himself in action, ending Kid’s adventure on the Grand Line for better or for worse.
Everything about the fight was flawless, with top-notch animation from Toei. Fans loved it so much that the episode garnered a solid rating of 9.7/10 on IMDb, becoming one of the many highest-rated episodes of the Shonen series.
