With Martin Scorsese at the helm of the film as its director, he had the difficult task of keeping Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert de Niro in the same shot. With DiCaprio often improvising his lines, Scorsese revealed in an interview with Wall Street Journal that they were quite exhausted at that point and he and Robert de Niro would just roll their eyes.

“[The improvisations by DiCaprio were] endless, endless, endless. Then Bob didn’t want to talk. Every now and then, Bob and I would look at each other and roll our eyes a little bit. And we’d tell [Leo], ‘You don’t need that dialogue.’”

Although this was all fun and games, Leonardo DiCaprio and veteran director Clint Eastwood did have a pretty big feud on the sets of the 2011 film J. Edgar which caused DiCaprio to vow to never work with Clint Eastwood again.

Back in 2011, Clint Eastwood directed the film J. Edgar starring Leonardo DiCaprio as the titular character of Edgar Hoover. With Eastwood’s one-take style, the director shot a scene where an explosion happens but DiCaprio stood firm that they reshoot the scene as he wasn’t stunned enough.

As per a report, DiCaprio’s challenging mannerism caused Eastwood to allegedly say to the cameraman that if DiCaprio wants to shoot the scene again, he can. But he warned the cameraman to make sure there was no film on it. This feud allegedly caused the Titanic star to walk off the sets and take a vow to never work with Clint Eastwood again.
