There are many stories about an actor and actress suffering from addiction. The 52-year-old actor Mark Wahlberg has also opened up about his addictions and how it impacted his life. Considering that he had faced such issues in his life, it doesn’t come as a surprise that he had some words of advice when he saw a fellow actor doing the same.

Ethan Embry recalled the story on Twitter in 2021 as he shared his encounter with the Transformers star in Las Vegas. He shared that he was lying on the floor of a casino in Las Vegas with lipstick and cocaine all over his face.

Wahlberg, who also happened to be at the same place, told him to get his sh*t together as he passed The Walking Dead actor. “He walked passed me in Las Vegas as I was lying on a casino floor with my face covered in lipstick and cocaine, and he said, ‘You had a lot of promise. Get your sh*t together,'” he recalled the incident in his tweet.

Listening to his words, Embry replied to him, saying, “Happy New Year.” Curious netizens questioned if the story was real, to which he replied with “True story.” Many also expressed that they were happy that the 45-year-old actor took his advice, as he shared that he has been sober for a few years.

Mark Wahlberg Also Suffered From Addictions

Before making it in the film industry, Mark Wahlberg had several run-ins with the law and teenage years. Around the same time, he also suffered from substance addiction and dropped out of the school to join a gang. The actor reportedly made drug deals and also engaged in several assaults against minorities.

Following the troubling years of his youth, the actor finally decided to move past all that and stopped smoking. He shared that he took this decision when his daughter asked him about the prevailing smell that usually surrounded her father.

“So I knew I had [to] quit,” he said as he shared that he decided to do so because he did not want his kids to grow up in such an environment. And his experience with the whole thing would have been the reason he suggested Ethan Embry do the same and focus on his family and work.
