“You have f–king nailed this”: Tom Hardy Terrified Real-Life Hitman With His Intense Acting Chops in $43M Crime Thriller, Had Secret Meetings to Prepare for the Role

Tom Hardy is one of the most established actors the world has ever seen. The English actor first rose to fame back in 2002 for portraying the role of the leader of the Reman people, Praetor Shinzon in Star Trek: Nemesis. Although Hardy has not won many awards and nominations as such he is still considered one of the best actors of his generation for his versatility and sheer dedication to his roles.

It is quite a difficult feat to portray the role of identical twins with two very different personalities in the same movie. However, Tom Hardy absolutely nailed it when he played the role of Ronnie Kray and Reggie Kray in the movie, Legend back in 2015.

Legend is a biographical crime movie based on John Pearson’s book, The Profession of Violence: The Rise and Fall of the Kray Twins. The movie covered the story of two twin brothers who gained a lot of control and influence over a large part of London’s criminal underworld. Tom Hardy portrayed the role of both the twins Ronnie Kray and Reggie Kray in the movie.

The Venom actor was allegedly so dedicated to his role that he even asked for some pointers from Kray’s former hitman, Freddie Foreman.

Even Freddie Foreman got terrified of the Inception actor’s portrayal of Ronnie Kray

Freddie Foreman once revealed in an interview that Tom Hardy had allegedly asked for some pointers from the former hitman to play the role of the twins to perfection. He said,

“I helped him get into character. Reggie always had a quizzical look on his face and he had to get that right. He used to be suspicious of everything and was looking around all the time. I sat down with Tom and helped him out as he needed some pointers.”

Freddie Foreman aka Brown Bread Fred who was a former criminal himself got terrified talking to Tom Hardy on set because of his resemblance to Ronnie Kray. He said,

“I went down to the set and there he was stood in front of me as Ronnie. And he nailed him off to a tee. I told him ‘It is scary here talking to you, it is scary’. It was like being with Ronnie. I told him ‘You have f**king nailed this, you are f**king Ronnie Kray.’”

Legend received positive reviews from fans and critics all over the world. The movie grossed a total of almost $43 million against its budget of $25 million making it a box-office success.

Legend is currently streaming on Netflix.
