If there’s anything more popular than the latest blockbuster from the Mission: Impossible franchise, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, among fans, it’s the relationship between Hayley Atwell and Tom Cruise. While the pair is said to have ‘secretly’ dated as per rumors, after watching the last second installment from the multi-billionaire saga, fans couldn’t help but speculate a possible romance re-awakening between the two.
However, Atwell has recently stepped up to clear the cloud and reveal the reality of her relationship with Cruise, along with sharing his stern message that helped her overcome the affair rumors surfacing at the same time as her engagement news.
Tom Cruise’s Stern Message To Hayley Atwell Following Affair Rumors
Back in late 2020, when Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One production was underway, reports had it that Tom Cruise and co-star Hayley Atwell had sparked romance rumors, with a source claiming that the pair ‘hit it off from day one’ while shooting the recent blockbuster among several others popping up later.
The Marvel star, however, seems to be of a different opinion regarding the issue. Claiming she considers both Cruise as well as director Chris McQuarrie as ‘sort of two uncles’, Atwell went on to reveal how ‘upsetting’ the affair rumors have been for her.
“I would be like, ‘Ooh, there’s some weird rumors, and it feels base, it feels a little dirty, it feels grubby, it’s not what I’m about,’” she explains. “Why are things being assumed or projected onto me about my relationship with my work colleague and boss? [It’s upsetting because] it’s involving people in my actual life, my personal life, who have to be on the receiving end of that. It becomes invasive.”
“When I’ve talked to him about it, he’d be like – ‘You know exactly who you are. You know what you’re about. And that is the only thing that matters. It doesn’t matter what people think of you, if you are in integrity with yourself, if you know what your value system is.’”
Hayley Atwell Recently Got Engaged To Ned Wolfgang Kelly
Hayley Atwell, who played Steve Rogers’s love interest Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger, recently announced her engagement to songwriter and music producer, Ned Wolfgang Kelly earlier this year. Sharing the news on Instagram, her fiancée wrote.
“I’d never had any interest in getting married… until I met this extraordinary woman.”
The pair is said to have been linked since July 2022, when they posed together for photos at an event in London, and got engaged in April this year in Venice. They were recently spotted at the Mission: Impossible 7 premiere party as well, where Hayley Atwell was proudly showing off her stunning engagement ring.
