While the filming was quite tedious for Pitt and Cruise since they did not get along very well, the film became culturally significant in many ways. Despite its success, the film did not get a sequel or a follow-up. It would seem that this fact shocked everyone who was a part of the film.

Tom Cruise’s Interview with the Vampire Deserved More

Interview with the Vampire was iconic in many ways. The film had an excellent cast and was based on Anne Rice’s beloved 1976 book of the same name. The movie gained an immense amount of attention and became yet another classic in Tom Cruise’s career. However, even though it was based on a book series, it was unable to go past its one film and make a series.

During an interview with Chris Killian, Christian Slater, who played the role of Daniel Molloy, talked about how disappointed the cast was that the movie did not get a sequel.

Tom Cruise and I were both surprised that Interview With The Vampire didn’t get a sequel. You know, that would have been fun. Uh, I mean, he did bite me at the end of that thing.

The actor revealed that both he and Cruise were really surprised when the story ended there and they were not allowed to explore other chapters. Thinking about the hypothetical sequel, he mentioned that it would have been fun to be a part of another film. He also talked about how there was a story to continue, as his character was turned into a vampire by the end of the film.

Interview with the Vampire Got Another Shot

It is safe to say that many fans would have appreciated seeing Interview with the Vampire get another shot and become a cohesive story that spanned multiple films. Unfortunately, Tom Cruise’s film was unable to secure a sequel for itself. However, this is not to say that the story ended with the 1994 film.

After the movie failed to continue, a show was released in 2022 of the same name. Starring excellent talents like Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid, Bailey Bass, and Assad Zaman, the series has brought about the perfect synopsis for its new audience. Anne Rice, the author of the original book, is also involved in its making, playing the role of creator alongside Rolin Jones.

The new show has also been very well-received by audiences and critics, having an impressive 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While many fans would be upset that Cruise’s version was not given a similar treatment, there is no denying that seeing the story be successful two decades after the original film is heartwarming.

The Interview with the Vampire show is available for streaming on Prime Video and the movie is available on Netflix.
