Keanu Reeves’s John Wick is one of the biggest action franchises ever. Its thrilling action scenes, and brutal violence, not to mention Wick’s stoicism attract fans worldwide to the billion-dollar-grossing franchise. Furthermore, Chad Stahelski has been instrumental in developing attractive and intriguing storylines that keep viewers hooked to the screen.
Recently appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Stahelski revealed he would love to come back for another John Wick movie but for a selfish reason. Stating that even the lead star Keanu Reeves would love to come back for another round, he also revealed some interesting details.
Why Chad Stahelski Wants To Make John Wick 5?
John Wick is a brutal assassin with exceptional combat skills that would put other action heroes to shame. The intense action sequences and compelling storyline with Keanu Reeves as Wick makes the franchise a memorable ride. Even after four movies, fans still can’t get enough of it and apparently, even the director Chad Stahelski thinks the same.
Not only did he describe himself as very fortunate to have worked along with such a stellar cast but also considers himself lucky to be the helmer of a world-famous franchise. So when asked if there would be a John Wick 5, the director revealed he would love to make it. He even went ahead to add why he would love to make another movie,
“You know why I do more John Wicks? Because I f**king love Keanu and because I f**king love the genre, and I love that they let me do what I want. I love everything about it. It is an arduous, painstaking, stressful, how-do-I-outdo-myself, how do we not let down the audience, every day stressing… And I love every f**king minute of it.”
However, despite his love for the franchise the director has been unable to come up with an interesting plot so far.
Lack Of Interesting Storyline Delaying John Wick 5
Back in May, Lionsgate made the exciting announcement that the highly anticipated fifth part was in development. However, as Chad Stahelski recently mentioned, it seems unlikely that the movie will be made soon. Unable to come up with an intriguing plot till now, the director stated,
“Keanu, if you ask him right now would you do John Wick 5, he’d be like, ‘F**k yeah.’ But then he’d go, ‘Well, what is it? I have no f**king idea. I don’t think there’s any reason to bring John Wick back without a real reason.”
He even stated that he wants to come up with a storyline that would be worthy of the fans and not just for the sake of bringing Keanu Reeves back.
“Most of the audience would love to see Keanu back, they just don’t want to be treated like they’re idiots… I’m part of the audience, and I would feel ripped off if I did something like that. None of us are opposed to doing John Wick 5. We just don’t know how to do it. We’re not that smart.”
Even if Stahelski does come up with an idea worthy of being made, the possibility of the fifth part beginning production soon seems bleak in light of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes.
