Jennifer Lawrence always seems to embarrass herself either in front or behind the camera, or literally anywhere she goes. She once tripped at the stairs as she received her award, spilled mints during a press conference, and accidentally kissed a female actress during an interview.
Another major embarrassment in the life of The Hunger Games actress happened while at a party after she spotted the one and only Jennifer Lopez. She took her chance to make an impression on the Latina pop star, but Lawrence was too drunk to even make a decent hello.
Jennifer Lawrence Blames Jimmy Fallon For Her Epic Fail Involving Jennifer Lopez
During her interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, actress Jennifer Lawrence confronted the host after he left her at a party looking like a fool in front of Jennifer Lopez. The pair concocted a plan to choreograph a dance and invite Lopez to mingle with them.
“We came up with this idea together. We both saw J.Lo, and this was like 10 jello shots in. And I’ve never done jello shots—I didn’t go to college. So we were dancing and were like, ‘Well, we gotta get J. Lo to dance!’ So I was like, ‘We’ll do a spin, and then we’ll go, ‘Dance with us!’’ ”
They practiced a routine in secret, but Jimmy Fallon got distracted by the music. Lawrence approached the singer and performed the dance, not knowing her friend had gone somewhere else. Lopez was tremendously stunned by Lawrence’s antics.
“I didn’t know that Kanye West was playing. How many jello shots did I have? I do it, he’s gone, and it’s just me looking at J.Lo going, ‘Dance with me!’ She was like, ‘I think I’m just gonna observe.’ You made me look like a freak in front of J.Lo! Do you know what that feels like?”
That was indeed very mortifying of Lawrence. Fallon defended himself and said that as he did the routine and spun around, he spotted Lopez’s manager who gave a look of disapproval. The host immediately backed away and left to avoid trouble, leaving Lawrence to look like a fool in front of the singer.
Jennifer Lopez Breaks Silence On The Dance Controversy
Of course, Jennifer Lopez had to tell her side of the story. In her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she reasoned that her decline of Jennifer Lawrence’s request to dance was not at all a diss.
“I remember seeing you guys come over, and I remember Jennifer saying, ‘Let’s go out to the dance floor,’ and I was like, ‘Nah I’m good right here,’ and I kind of felt like she was sad. I didn’t mean it that way, it was crazy out there, I didn’t want to go out there.”
Perhaps it was really chaotic and noisy at the party, and Lopez was not in the mood to socialize. But then, Lawrence had a couple of jello shots, so who knows what might have happened if she and the singer actually danced together?
