The James Bond franchise has seen several different actors portraying the role of the MI-6 007 agent. From Pierce Brosnan to Daniel Craig, numerous actors have taken the role but one actor never changed.
Judi Dench, who portrayed the character of M, the head of MI-6 was in the role for over 20 years! Working alongside both Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig, Dench seemed to recall that she and Brosnan had developed a special bond.
Judi Dench Misses Pierce Brosnan As James Bond
Daniel Craig took over the role of James Bond when he starred in 2006’s Casino Royale. Pierce Brosnan, the actor before him, retired from the role with his 2002 movie titled Die Another Day. The head of the MI-6 agency, M, was portrayed by Judi Dench and she never left James Bond’s side.
No matter who portrayed the character, Judi Dench acted the role of M for over 20 years while working alongside Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. In an interview, the actress talked about the difference between the two actors. Although they both were iconic in their own way, Dench confessed that she had developed a special bond with Pierce Brosnan and that she missed him.
“Daniel’s an incredible talent and I love working with him but I still miss Pierce. He was a very warm man and always a lot of fun, always laughing and joking. Pierce was great to have around the set. We became close friends. I did four Bonds with him so I missed him after he finished with the role. There’s no comparison between him and Daniel. They’re completely different actors but both are brilliant men with a fantastic sense of humor, very self-mocking, which you need to play Bond.”
She further continued,
“But you miss anyone you make a relationship with and you think at some point you’ll maybe cross paths again. And I did, with Pierce, in a play. If you get on with somebody well, you never really break that.”
Daniel Craig also announced his retirement from the James Bond franchise with the 2021 movie No Time To Die. The producers of the franchise are currently looking for an actor who could be the next James Bond but no names have been announced yet.
When Quentin Tarantino Wanted To Make A Movie With Pierce Brosnan
After Pierce Brosnan was fired from the James Bond franchise, notable director Quentin Tarantino had an idea. As per the trivia, Quentin Tarantino wanted to remake Casino Royale in his own unique Tarantino style.
The director had publicly expressed interest in doing the project and he wanted Pierce Brosnan to be the lead role. The project was never made since the James Bond producers refused Tarantino for a remake. With Brosnan and Daniel Craig both out of the picture, the world eagerly awaits to know who the next James Bond will be.
