In the wake of the controversy, which also involved an alleged extortion attempt, the Me Time star initially issued a public apology on Instagram, directed to his wife and kids, where he admitted to making a “bad error in judgment.”
The celebrity further commented on the aftermath during an episode of The School of Greatness podcast, where he disclosed why the couple decided to sustain their marriage instead of taking a drastic step to conclude what they had been building on.

The speculations surrounding the couple’s relationship following this incident generated egregious headlines and caused public humiliation for both parties. Reflecting on the occurrence, Hart’s wife stated the following on the Netflix documentary series Kevin Hart: Don’t F**k This Up (via People):
“I have to maintain a level head … That’s the only thing that really got me through. I wasn’t ready at the time to … give up on my family. I wanted Kenzo to be able to know his dad and grow up, so it was a lot.”
Eniko Hart wept as she recounted the story, but she also admitted that she wasn’t ready to part from her family, particularly with their first-born child’s future in mind.

Despite having faced shame and mental anguish, the 39-year-old declared that the Ride Along actor was a changed man and that, in the future, the turbulent past will not have as much of an impact on her as it did when she relived it during the documentary.
“It was a lot for me, but we’ve been through it, we’ve gone through it, we passed it, and he’s a better man now… because of it. […] I believe in second chances. I’m all about forgiveness, and you only get two times. Three strikes, you’re out, you’re out of here. So, as long as he behaves, we’re good.”
In the same series, Hart shed light on the occurrence and described the heartbreaking sentiments he experienced upon witnessing his “reckless behavior” take its toll on his wife. “The worst part is knowing how you made somebody feel,” claimed the comedian.
In 2020, during The School of Greatness podcast, the topic of the controversy re-emerged, and the Get Hard star revealed what prompted Eniko Hart to sustain their relationship instead of breaking up or parting ways.

“She came to an amazing conclusion of, ‘I like the fact that we have a family, that we have a household, and I like the fact that we now got a job to do to get better. That’s what you owe me. You owe me the get-better. And she held me accountable.”
