I am Legend is officially getting a sequel with Will Smith, and Akiva Goldsman penning down the script. Not only that, but Michael B. Jordan will be producing as well as starring in the movie. The sequel was first announced back in 2022, but only now is it getting any updates. Goldsman was responsible for writing the first movie as well.
This will be Will Smith’s big return after the events that underwent during the 2022 Oscars. While his reputation was fluctuating heavily because of the controversial incident, the epic sequel could bring him back to his old glory. The movie is also said to be taking heavy inspiration from the highly acclaimed HBO Max series starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, The Last of Us.
I Am Legend 2 Will Be Visually Like The Last Of Us
Akiva Goldsman confirmed that I Am Legend 2 will visually be inspired by The Last of Us and how well it balances the post-apocalyptic themes while still managing to show the will to survive in humans. The writer loves the visual aspects of the show and just how beautifully the emotions of the world itself are captured. The movie will be starring Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan.

The series has been highly acclaimed in aspects, both storytelling as well as a visual grasp of the entire scenario. Goldsman did claim that he will be working on the movie side by side with Constantine 2. Much like the Neil Druckmann series, I am Legend 2 will also be based a few years ahead of the apocalypse and will ignore the ending that the first movie had. He also wants to stick to the source of the script, the book written by Richard Matheson.
I Am Legend Will See Michael B. Jordan In A Mystery Role
Since the movie is revolving around the last man in a post-apocalyptic world trying to find a cure for his immunity, it remains to be a mystery how Michael B. Jordan would fit into the picture. Fans suggest that if anyone is taking inspiration from the other, it is The Last of Us, considering how the book as well as the movie came first.
While Goldsman did confirm that a lot of the film will be based on the book, it is still unclear as to how it will pan out in the end. The audience is more than excited to see Smith return to the big screen and with a huge movie as well.
