It’s been 13 years since the last installment of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter films was released in theaters, but despite the long pause, fans continued expressing their love and support for the franchise. HBO is bringing a new Harry Potter project onto the small screen, and Potterheads cannot contain their excitement.
A fan-made trailer for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been going viral, and fans initially believed it was real. The execution and editing were definitely at par with the past official trailers.
Fan-Made Trailer Of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Reveals A Haunting Past
Created by KH Studio on YouTube, this fan-made trailer of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child showed the potential continuation of the story featuring Albus Severus Potter, the son of Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley.
The footage showed Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint going back to their respective roles. The voice-over stated:
“Dad, sometimes in my head, I see a graveyard and a whispering ark. It talks to me.”
The narration seemingly reveals the plot of the story. The young Potter attends Hogwarts and gets categorized as a Slytherin. In the edited trailer, something hinted at the return of Lord Voldemort. The children have gone missing, an indication that something evil is fast approaching.
“They disappear because something penetrates the past, or someone, whoever it could be, it manipulates the flow of the present.”
The trailer ended with a warning: “You should be afraid of the past,” which might serve as the central theme of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The past will be haunting the characters, and they will have to find a way to combat this evil force.
Interestingly, J.K. Rowling was initially against the idea of creating more Harry Potter stories. In her interview with CBS News, she revealed:
“I felt that I was done. Harry’s story now, I’m done. I’m done. I needed to be persuaded to do ‘19 years on,’ and I’m really glad I was persuaded… But no, we’re not going to see Albus’ son go to Hogwarts. Well, not on my watch. In 100 years time, I’ll come and haunt the person who does it.”
As she said, fans should not expect to see Albus Severus Potter’s son go to Hogwarts, which signals that Rowling might actually be done with the books.
Harry Potter TV Series Is On The Way
Warner Bros. Discovery announced that there will be an upcoming TV series based on the seven Harry Potter books penned by Rowling, as reported by Deadline. Chairman and CEO of HBO & Max Content Casey Bloys said:
“This new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years.”
As always, she assured fans that this would be a faithful adaptation. It is slated for a 2026 release as per the announcement of WBD CEO David Zaslav.
