Listed among the most successful actors of all time in Hollywood, Anthony Mackie is renowned for playing the Falcon in the MCU. With his character becoming the successor to Steve Rogers, Mackie will now play the new Captain America.

Anthony Mackie Struggled on the Sets of Captain America: Brave New World
After Captain America in Avengers: Endgame gave his shield and indirectly transferred his responsibility of being Captain America to the Falcon, now Anthony Mackie will have to continue his legacy by becoming Steve Roger’s successor and the new Captain America. While the actor is excited about it, he is also not happy with Marvel for hurrying him into the Captain’s role.
Anthony Mackie confessed how at first he found it hard to adjust to the all-American superhero role. He admits to being thrown off by the massive responsibility at first, but then later on getting comfortable with it and adjusting to it with time. In an interview, Mackie shared how he truly felt about it, saying,
“There’s a huge amount of pressure. You throw my dumb a** in the water, and you’re like, ‘Swim.’ I’m like, ‘Sh*t.’ But at the same time, it’s all in the state of mind. I’ve been given a great cast. I’ve been given a great group of people who I’ve worked with before.”
Renamed from New World Order, the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World will star Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America while the actor’s initial role in MCU will be transferred to Danny Ramirez, who will be shown as the successor of the Falcon after being his fan for a long time.
Anthony Mackie Wanted to Play Black Panther Initially
Growing up, Anthony Mackie ‘loved’ the Black Panther and wanted to play his role. Mackie revealed how he wanted to play the role of Black Panther before it was given to the late Chadwick Boseman. However, as fate will have it, he was given the role of the Falcon instead, and the actor warmed up to this character in no time. The 44-year-old actor said,
“What other major comic book figure has enough of a presence to have his own movie? So when they hit me up and they were like, ‘Yo, so it’s Sam Wilson,’ I’m like, ‘Really?'”
Irrespective of what the reason may be, fans and even critics believe that no one could’ve played the Falcon’s role better than Anthony Mackie. While Mackie will now be roleplaying Captain America’s character, he might not be the one to lead the returning Avengers, as hinted by the actor himself. However, since it’s unconfirmed as of now, fans will have to wait and see how everything turns out.
The upcoming movie Captain America: Brave New World is set to release on 26th July 2024.
