The Ghost Rider star Nicolas Cage recently shared his disappointment in not being a part of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Cage performed the role of Spider-Man Noir – A character in Spider-Man multiverse which is based during the times of the Great Depression in New York, America. The dark detective Spider-Man carries pistol guns unlike his other spider buddies from the multiverse and was highly appreciated by the audiences in the Oscar-winning 2019 movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse for adding uniqueness to already known Spider-Man.

Nicolas Cage’s Heartbreak in Across the Spider-Verse

Nicolas Cage couldn’t hide his disappointment for not being able to play the part of Spider-Man Noir in the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The Spider-Verse story revolves around the character of Miles Morales and his encounters with his fellow Spider mates across the multiverse. Though the upcoming movie involves multiple Spider-People, Spider-Man Noir was nowhere to be found. In a recent interview Cage expressed his disappointment with the same and his hopes to play the role back.

“You’d have to ask Sony. I don’t know what’s going on with that. No one’s spoken to me about that. Ask them. I don’t know. I really don’t. I wish they would. I love Spider-Man Noir, too. I think that’s a great character. Spider-Man’s the coolest superhero. And then you combine that with Cagney and Bogart and Edward G. Robinson, come on, it’s a great character.”

Though the other characters from the previous movie, such as Spider-Gwen, can be seen returning in the upcoming movie trailer. The classic Spider-Man Noir was nowhere to be seen in the movie trailer. Despite involving multiple Spider-People across the multiverse, it seems that our monochromatic hero failed to make it into the list.

It sounds like fans need to be satisfied without Spider-Man Noir for the time being. Let’s hope that the other Spider-Men introduced in the upcoming movie will be able to fill the void left by Cage. Though there are still hopes that fans may get to see Spider-Man Noir in other upcoming movies. As there has been decent material published by Marvel about Spider-Man Noir. Sony television can always re-cast Nicolas Cage to play Spider-Man Noir and fans are rooting for it.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse comes out on 2 June 2023.
