Actor, entrepreneur, and football club owner Ryan Reynolds is back to his indomitable best with a hilarious ad spot for MNTN. Playing the role of an agency’s chief creative officer, against fellow actor Grant Gustin, playing the role of Seymour Roas, an agency’s chief performance officer, Reynolds took the ad to the next level with a subtle roast of DC.
Recalling his time with DC, from when he played Hal in 2011’s Green Lantern, Ryan Reynolds dissed WB’s The Flash trainwreck alongside Grant Gustin who originally played Barry Allen in the 2014 network series of The Flash. Expelling Ezra Miller from the role of Barry Allen, Reynolds stunned fans with his hilarious response.
Ryan Reynolds And Grant Gustin Teamed Up For an Ad
Following his successful acting career, Ryan Reynolds not only ventured into the business of owning a football club and becoming a liquor lineup entrepreneur but also tried his luck in advertising. Coming up with his best performance in a hilarious ad spot for MNTN, Reynolds appeared alongside fellow actor Grant Gustin.
MNTN’s Performance TV technology and first-of-its-kind self-serve ad platform allow advertisers to buy, target, and measure Connected TV ads as easily as on search and social – making it faster than traditional TV buying. Thus, appearing in the ad with Gustin, who played the role of Seymour Roas, an agency’s chief performance officer, Ryan Reynolds played the role of the agency’s chief creative officer.
In the ad shared on Reynolds’ YouTube channel, Grant Gustin’s Seymour Roas begins by saying, “I’m in charge of performance. We believe TV should be bought targeted and measured like search or social, the other performance channels”. To which Reynolds replies, “that sounds fast. Would you say people could see results…in a flash” with a nod from Gustin and a confused look.
Ryan Reynolds Subtly Trolled WB’s The Flash Trainwreck
Playing dumb to what Ryan Reynolds is alluding to, in the ad, Grant Gustin came up with the question, “why are you staring at me?”. Frustrated with Gustin’s character Seymour Roas’ ignorance, Reynolds simply added, “I thought this would be more fun”. And that’s where the ad ended.
However, after Ryan Reynolds and Grant Gustin went out of the scene, the duo were heard saying what later came out as a brutal roast of Warner Bros’ The Flash trainwreck. Reynolds was heard saying, “You’ll always be my Barry” and Gustin bounced back with a response, “You’ll always be my Hal.”
The ad’s already gone viral and fans are taken aback by Ryan Reynolds’ attempt at expelling Ezra Miller as Flash and claiming Grant Gustin as the true Flash of DC. Recalling the time when he played Hal in 2011’s Green Lantern and Gustin played Barry Allen in the 2014 network series of The Flash, Reynolds roasted Warner Bros’ for their failed modern version of The Flash.
But since Green Lantern was a box office disaster that almost destroyed Ryan Reynolds’ career, unlike Grant Gustin’s The Flash, the actor was heard saying, “that hurts, Seymour” after Gustin addressed him as Hal. Certainly, nothing compares to Reynolds’ comedic response and timing.
