Amid the wholesome moments presented by the 96th Academy Awards, the event also set the stage for the reunion of two great friends, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. While presenting the Oscar for Best Special Effects, the duo seemed to remember their mutual hatred against Batman. That’s when the camera panned toward Michael Keaton seated in the audience.
Giving a mean look to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, who previously played Batman villains, Michael Keaton took the heated confrontation to the next level. Exciting fans with his Batman poker face during the Oscars, Keaton later addressed the confrontation during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, following the Oscars.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito Team Up Against Michael Keaton
The 2024 Oscars marked the reunion of two great friends – Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, who previously shared the screen in Twins (1988). Not just that but the duo also had a mutual hatred for Batman, as they both starred as villains in DC movies. Danny DeVito played Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin, in Michael Keaton’s Batman Returns.
On the other hand, Arnold Schwarzenegger famously known for his role in The Terminator, appeared as Victor Fries aka Mr. Freeze in Batman & Robin (1997). Therefore, sharing the stage during the Oscars 2024, to present the award for Best Special Effects, Schwarzenegger and DeVito, teamed up to troll Michael Keaton’s Batman, who was seated in the audience.
“Arnold and I are presenting tonight together for a very obvious reason.” DeVito began.
“We’ve both tried to kill Batman!” Schwarzenegger delivered
“Oh. He threw me out a window! There he is. He’s right here. He’s right there. Look!” DeVito shared.
“You have a lot of nerve to show your face around here. Batman, you son of a b*tch.” Schwarzenegger added.
Amid the whole conversational confrontation, the camera panned towards Michael Keaton, who offered a vengeful poker face look to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. Creating an almost film-like heated encounter, the trio played along as the two Batman foes teamed up against Keaton.
Michael Keaton Trolled the Batman Villains After the Oscars Confrontation
After this highly entertaining and almost real-like encounter between Batman and his foes at the 96th Academy Awards, Michael Keaton addressed the whole thing during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Appearing on the March 14th episode of the talk show, Keaton was asked by Kimmel about the Oscars and his confrontation with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.
Playing along, Michael Keaton delivered the ultimatum on the show, as he trolled Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito after they previously teamed up against Keaton. Admitting that it was all fun, the Batman Returns actor mentioned how he put on the vengeful Batman face to add a little spin of his own.
“There’s a little glint of evil in your eye,” Kimmel noted.
“You’ll be back when I tell you to come back. You have to go into the face you know. Whenever that happens you just have to drop into that face, you know what I mean? Danny is the one I’d worry about cause he’s sneaky… he’d creep up behind you. And he has the height advantage… you don’t know where he is, so he’s always sneaking around.” Keaton shared.
Beginning by trolling Danny DeVito, Michael Keaton proceeded to take out Arnold Schwarzenegger. Claiming that he’s worried about DeVito for he’s always sneaking around, Keaton stated he isn’t much worried about Schwarzenegger, for he believes the actor is “too slow”.
“The other guy I’d just put away. I mean he’s too slow” Keaton stated.
“Schwarzenegger? You’d kill him” Kimmel noted.
“Yeah. That was really fun to do. That’s why show business is really fun, you know.” Keaton concluded.
After trolling Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito as Batman villains, Michael Keaton admitted that it was really fun to do that spontaneous bit during the Oscars. Calling it the best part of show business, Keaton went on to discuss other things.
