Whether or not you follow the sport of bodybuilding, there is a very high chance that you might’ve heard the name of Arnold Schwarzenegger. And if not in the sport, then you definitely know him from the countless action films that the Austrian bodybuilder and Hollywood star did in the early 80s and 90s in the film industry.
But all this fame and fortune was not easy for the star to acquire, especially when he was a child from the mountains of Austria, and moving to the United States didn’t prove to be smooth sailing for him. Not only was he feared because of his gargantuan physique, but due to his distinct voice and accent, he was offered roles to play a Nazi, something that he completely rejected, even when he was a young boy.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Was Stereotyped To Play The Role Of A Nazi Due To His Exotic Voice
One of the many reasons the world knows Arnold Schwarzenegger is because of his various appearances as a cyborg from the future in the Terminator franchise, something that brought him in front of the world. But what did differentiate him was his voice, which is both deep and flat, accompanied by his accent, which together made for a very imposing tone whenever he spoke. While this might’ve gained the attention of many, some of that attention wasn’t always due to a sense of awe.

Coming up in the Hollywood industry after dominating the world of bodybuilding, acting was something that the Twins star was passionate about from a young age. But due to his one-of-a-kind Herculean physique as well as his borderline intimidating voice, he was stereotyped to play a certain character from the start. In a past interview, Schwarzenegger recalled his early days in the business, where people only thought of him to play certain roles. He said:
“They used to say ‘your body is too big’. This is the 1970s and people like Dustin Hoffman and Al Pacino and Woody Allen, they are s-x symbols. I said ‘Oh Jesus,’ plus, your accent gives me the creeps. We can use you maybe to play a Nazi or something like that’.”
Despite being new to the industry, the star outright dismissed this proposal. He has openly talked about his father having similar ideologies to that of Nazis, and that he has always opposed these ever since he was a child and had begun to make his own opinions about the world.

For the first time in his professional career, Arnold Schwarzenegger is entering the world of small-screen entertainment with Netflix’s upcoming action/comedy series FUBAR. The story follows Schwarzenegger’s character, a CIA operative who is just about to take his retirement from his duties when an old family secret drags him back into the world of covert operations for the last time. Since the actor is well-known for his skills and experience in both genres, people can expect some solid performances.
