Dwayne Johnson stepping away from the DC Universe may not have been the best decision and the trailer for the Shazam! sequel made it even more obvious. The trailer was released recently and it has won the hearts of fans faster than Billy Batson can say Shazam! The upcoming sequel’s hype is growing increasingly. The trailer has proven that perhaps it would be the movie DCU fans had been waiting for.

A quick fact that was among the points raised by fans was the exclusion of Black Adam from the movie. Johnson first denied appearing in the first movie even as a cameo because of his confidence in Black Adam and wanting to debut in his own movie instead of being a part of Zachary Levi’s.

Dwayne Johnson Staying Away From The Shazam! Series May Not Have Been The Best

Dwayne Johnson‘s debut in the DC Universe was initially set to be in Zachary Levi’s Shazam! However, the actor refused to appear in the movie to make his first appearance in Black Adam; which may have looked good on paper but not at the box office. The trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods set up the sequel in a masterful way. The first movie was already loved by the fans and by the looks of it, the second one might just beat it.

Upon seeing the trailer, the audience pointed out how if Johnson had accepted to cameo in the first movie, he would have possibly been the villain for the sequel. It could have very well secured the actor’s position in the franchise instead of becoming a doubtful future of whether or not Teth Adam would even return to the DCU. The possible success of Levi’s movie looks only positive with the response that the trailer has received. It easily highlighted the character of a teenager with his quirky quips and what the fans can expect out of a movie with massive stakes and fights against Gods.

Fans have been going out of their way to point out how due to Dwayne Johnson’s decision, he can no longer be a part of a series that looks as appealing as Shazam! does. They pointed out how his decision to chase after Superman instead of Levi’s Marvel family could have only backtracked his superhero career, and by a lot.

The audience has even focused on how the DCU might choose to recast Black Adam rather than bring back Johnson for the role. This could give way to the character being the antagonist of the third movie if the upcoming slate chooses to include Zachary Levi’s series.

Zachary Levi starrer Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be available to watch in theatres from 17th March 2023.
