Joel Kinnaman Was Almost Cast as Thor in the MCU

“Well yeah, I mean I don’t know exactly how close I was but I think I was in the sort of runner-up. It was the first American audition I did and I’ve never put myself on a tape before and I sent it off and didn’t rally think about it”

Although the role went to Hemsworth, Joel Kinnaman could have also brought a completely new face to the MCU hero. Also noteworthy is the fact that Kinnaman later went on to play the role of Rick Flagg in the DC Extended Universe films Suicide Squad and The Suicide Squad. Eventually, he had the opportunity to be a part of the superhero movie genre, just not in the MCU, but in the DCEU.
