In a recent interview with Variety, The Banshees of Insherin actor revealed that he created 5 versions of Oliver for the movie. Barry Keoghan wanted to portray a mental transition of the character throughout the entire movie along with a physical transition as well. Besides the writing and direction, the actor was also interested in adding something to keep the audience engaged.
“I created Oliver 1 for the start, then Oliver 2 for the next part, on through Oliver 5 at the end. I wanted to hit each of them with a physicality, a tone of voice, a different motive, a different pace. You see the costume and the hair changes, but you also sense his mental change and track that journey.”
Barry Keoghan has also stated that there are many scenes improvised by him in Saltburn. One of the most famous improvisations in the movie was the graveyard scene that went viral on the internet. It was written differently by the Promising Young Woman director before the actor decided to add his touch to the scene.
